The
independently judged R&D 100 Awards program has recognized the Coolerado
air conditioner as one of 2004's most technologically significant products
introduced into the marketplace.
For 42 years the prestigious R&D 100 Awards have been
helping companies provide the important push a new product needs to
compete successfully in the marketplace.
Corporations, government labs, private
research institutes, and universities worldwide submit entries for the
coveted awards. Technologies are nominated in open competition and
judged by a large panel of technical experts in a variety of
disciplines.
The winning of an R&D 100 Award provides a mark of
excellence known to industry, government, and academia as proof that the
product is one of the most innovative ideas of the year. 2003
winners included 3M, Caterpillar, GE, Lockheed Martin, Mitsubishi, NASA,
Dow Chemical, Procter & Gamble, and Toyota.
Past
products of the R&D 100 Award include household names such as Polacolor
film (1963), the flashcube (1965), the automated teller machine (1973),
the halogen lamp (1974), the fax machine (1975), the liquid crystal
display (1980), the printer (1986), the Kodak Photo CD (1991), the
